I agree with you. The thing is the MSM doesn't seem to act as if we are a force to be reckoned with. If anything they have become more shrill & far less credible in the last few years. I think there are a couple of major reasons for this.

The obvious one is that the MSM has had a monopoly on the "news" almost forever. They are used to determining what is "news", how to frame it & what the "facts" are. Like most monopolies, they will be among the last to recognize that they are no longer in complete control. And even though they are aware of our existence, there is a lot of denial & a lot of arrogance from them about us. That's why they often ignore us when we thoroughly expose their various misdeeds & misconceptions. And when they do acknowledge us, it is to demean & ridicule us.

Another one is that folks like us have come accustomed to the alternate media environment & can clearly see the MSM for what they actually are. Alternate media has been an incredible resource for us. The problem is that we are only a tiny minority who use the alternate media as our main sources of info - something like 9 million folks last I heard. That leaves roughly 290 million folks who rely on the MSM for most of their "news" Of the 9 million who don't rely mainly on the MSM, probably 1/2 of us lean right of center. No doubt most of them generally see things the way you & I do. That's about 4.5 million folks out of a country of about 300 million.

And keep in mind that the other 4.5 million active alternate media people lean left of center. Most of them probably lean quite far to the left just as most of the DNC has moved more & more leftward in recent years. Think Daily Kos, the Nation, The Democratic Underground & Howard Dean types. Most of them think the MSM is far too conservative.

IMO, as long as those numbers remain in the current range, the MSM will be able to continue to ignore, dismiss & demean us while they blithely continue to do what they have been doing for decades. Sure we will be more & more effective at chipping away at their credibility & expose them as the leftists they really are, but we are still Davids in the making & they are Goliath.

because most of us can see right through their deceit.

Most of us don't see right thru their decit IMO. People read headlines, do not have the background, training, interest, education, experience to really use critical analysis on most articles; and there is bias which colors ones conclusions and interpretations.

All in all , MSM is successful in their reporting to create a opinion for the populace. Look at Bush's approval polls. How could this be? He inherited a recession in full bloom. He and the fed reserve turned it around and look at the economy now. He responded to 9-11 with the patriot act, legal NSA surveillance, Homeland securiity, new CIA guy etc, got rid of Taliban in Afghan with small force of special ops, horses, lasors, airplances and Northern Alliance. Accomplished the regime change in Iraq in 3 weeks. Only hard time is stabalizing Iraq with a new government. But that is about done IMO and we can start removing our forces leaving behind the same type of force and airpower as AFGHAN. And then we have social policies. No child left behind Act. With a teenager I am familiar and that is working well to stop the automatic up and out methods of the past. The Medicare Drug act also should save a lot of money on both Medicare A and B expenses as less hospital and doctor's visits should be required. Drugs are the cheapesst way to treat problems. Bush was not able to reform SS because of Dem filibuster and now Immigration is on the table. All in all , how everyone can be so mad at Bush and not approve of his performance can only be explained by constant negative statements from the MSM. Conclusion- They are effective and general populace is not seeing right thru "them" as you contend.
