Midwest - I live in Cleveland. Talk about self inflicted pain. Big unions - big city Dems - and we here wonder why?

None-the-less, there are big success stories here. The Cleveland Clinc, Progressive Insurance, MBNA, Steris. One big loss was when BP left town with the Amoco merger. Now there is an issue - big oil company mergers!

Oh well - things are never perfect - but the economy is not ruined. A little objectivity gives an argument credibility.

JQP - Are people in the Detroit area pulling back and shutting down in anticipation of a Delphi or GM shutdown, or more layoffs ?

Is there a higher level of fear ?

Silicon Valley isn't seeing this yet.
