Maurice, thanks for the opening.

Deliciously, king george is actually quite impotent, having managed to do nothing except getting bogged down where russia had gotten itself bogged down before, and stuck in neutral on just about every other initiative and blunted on next to all thrusts.

and, having done nothing, and yet still not satisfied, george the younger also saddled his constituency with heavy heavy debt and hefty hefty obligations; nice going.

Hu's visit to the usa went swimmingly, partying in the other Washington, and then zipping over to the welcoming desert kingdom, arranging deals to fill strategic tanks even as George the younger has to stop filling up his own tanks tyhat used to be strategic.

And, funnily, Stratfor and Maurice actually believe Manchuria has some sort of independence bent, where as all the Uigers and Tibetans in the world can make one iota bit of difference to Hu's day. Refreshingly tired take on what is.

Maurice, when someone points to a huge piece of empty territory called Xinjiang and claims it is hostile to Beijing, you must weigh the numbers, and realize, based on one hand one vote, the area is enormously favoring Beijing, and same same for Tibet, and everywhere, even with an important minority in Taiwan too.

Manchuria? never for a moment did I think Stratfor would imaging there is a play there, but then Stratfor's stupidity reinforced bias no longer succeeds to surprise me. To think there is a play in Manchuria is the same as thinking London will break away from England.

But then, sounds like you can believe jjust about anything.

No, I fear what must be will be, and all the indicators are flashing green. The reason you think otherwise is because you think wrong.

Chugs, J

MQ, if you write for a certain audience who pays for your views, you'd better not alienate that audience. People don't like to have views disrupting their train of thought.

Therefore when you write this type of thing, you are safe if you slant towards what your audience wants to read. They will keep paying to read you.

If you are the writer then, you have to be really good at what you do.

The writer is most likely a high ranking military who have worked as an military attaché and supplements his retirement writing those pieces. That's why he frames everything under a military perspective.

If you're hard hitting and direct to the point, you will have an audience. Problem is, this audience is very limited. If you want to reach a wider readership, you have to mellow your tone and dilute the conclusions.

The Stratfor piece starts from the right facts but draw the wrong conclusions.

It's of course inevitable that New York, California, Texas, Massachusetts and New York City and other bits and pieces will hive off into their own political entities.
Maurice I've told you many times, opium and crack aren't good for you. Please quit.
Actually there are unifying tendencies in the world. The parts of India are more and more coalescing. The South American countries are reaching out to each other, more and more.
Canada has been appearing to be "splitting" for two centuries but more and more it appears that French speaking people and English speaking people can get along in the same country.
