Better Agere, than Broadcom, FSL, or TI. Well, there are some pluses and minuses to Agere winning the business. Long-term, they are probably less of a threat....OTOH, if they hadnt won the Samsung business, they probably would have had to exit the 3G baseband business pretty quickly. This keeps them alive for a while longer. Of course, this is probably another reason that handset manufacturers will go with second sources. They dont want to be limited to Qualcomm, EMP, and TI. Slacker
