I expect that there will be an unfortunate tendency to believe that he must be telling the truth because "you can't tell lies on TV."

I agree with you that he wont be objectively portraying both sides of every issue. His job is to present his employer's view point with style and pzazz.

However, people are likely to believe him because he has built a reputation based on his personal character of honorable representation of the news. I doubt that he will allow himself to compromise his character for this job. He has the option to resign any time he wants. I think he can do the job without presenting both sides of every issue and without compromising his character. I think his employers hired him with that standard in mind.
