Stahlman also cited the recent return of Michael Lehman as chief financial officer, along with Greg Papadopoulos's move to executive vice president of research and development, moving from his old job as chief technology officer, saying both actions are hopeful signs that Sun Micro is emphasizing its business strengths and cost-management plans.

So moving one long-time Sun veteran from CTO to Vice President of R&D (big difference, eh?) and bringing back another as CFO is a sign of important change in management philosophy? Interesting perspective.

Stahlman does say he thinks the current products will make a difference, but he also says that Sun "likes to tie things up with a ribbon" in the June Q that ends their FY, meaning (I think) getting writedowns and other big charges out of the way. That to me was code for "don't expect any earnings this quarter or for the year."
