Long term outlook is completely unclear without knowledge of K8L performance and timing.

hs2,

Bad move, ditto for Doug. If you're getting squeamish, you could have done an EPhud and sold some covered calls, almost always a moneymaker.

I looked into it, but I didn't really see anything I liked. I think there is probably 20 to 30% risk on the downside in next 4 months, with limited upside and the in the money calls did not give me enough premium to protect from that.

Of course, the fact that I sold increases the chances that Dell will come on board in a more meaningful way (than Alienware) exponentially...

Long term outlook is still great and it's foolish to sweat the short term.

I am hoping to be back with more shares later. I have been in and out of AMD stock a number of time over the last 5 to 6 years, and as a result, I ended up with with a lot more shares. But I used to have a better feel for the AMD stock before the latest runup, and most of my short term trades with stock and options were profitable.

I don't have the same feel for the near term movement of the stock any more. Most of my short term trades (with small fraction of the shares) were barely break-even during the latest big run-up from single digits (up to the recent highs), so I may be wrong this time as well. We will see...
