The State Of MN has an Ethanol subsidy in place and even though the plants are making money by the bushel, the legislature finds it politically IMPOSSIBLE to eliminate the subsidy.

If it also kills the need for federal subsidies and price supports for corn farmers so much the better as far as the budget is concerned

Does this all slip past people?

Ethanol is net negative for energy. Every gallon created uses up more of some other energy source, and then when it is used as a fuel for cars it reduces fuel mileage significantly. Ethanol is a disguised transfer payment.

It is a boondoggle for the corn farmers and mainly Archer Daniels Midland.
