I think that's typical of the problem. People use different meanings. What I mean by it is the plain-language version--that global temperatures are currently on the upswing (irrespective of what's causing that effect). I don't think that can be denied.

I agree with you that by global warming some folks include a whole litany of beliefs including the one you mention. Which sure complicates communication.

I don't believe it.

I also don't see how human activity could possibly NOT be causing some of it. Beyond that, I think I don't think we have enough science to more than speculate on effects. Nor have we had a real dialog on what, if anything, to do about those potential effects. The true believers leap all the way from noting that the earth is warming to the notion that we have to move heaven and earth to stop it or catastrophe will occur. I'd like an opportunity for a dialog on what, if anything, we can and should stop. There's a whole lot of space in this issue between true believers and deniers but that dialog is impossible given the current political scenario.
