SYNX - Interesting piece from yahoo synx board........

"I was scrubbing the SEC filings tonight and I found the following interesting:

Firecom discloses that it owns 7.8% (407,689 shares) of Synergx Systems (NASDAQ: SYNX). Those shares cost Firecom approximately $741,047.70. Firecom used to be a public company, but it was taken private back in mid 2001. Referencing the most recent Q for Firecom (when it was public), it had $4.4mm in cash. Assuming Firecom's business had not changed materially, which is a big "if", spending almost 1/4 of your cash on open market purchases is significant, no? Can you say conviction!

Firecom is in the business of manufacturing and distributing life safety systems for high rise office buildings, hotels, apartment buildings and other large commercial buildings. Additionally, the filing states Firecom "may from time to time develop plans, or have discussions with third parties, respecting, or propose changes in, the management, composition of the Board, policies, operations, capital structure or business of the Issuer, including a possible acquisition of the Issuer."

Synergx was organized to acquire controlling interests in companies engaged in the design, manufacture, distribution, sale and servicing of fire, life safety, security, energy management, intercom, audio-video communication and other systems. Its Casey Systems subsidiary, the largest component of revenues seems most interesting:

"Casey's Comco Technologies Transit Group and Rail Facilities group are dedicated to the Rail and Mass transit industries, delivering reliable and value added communications products and services."

From the latest Synergx Q: The Company's order position, excluding service, at December 31, 2005 was $8,605,000 as compared to $8,800,000 at September 30, 2005 and $11,568,000 at December 31, 2004. This order position includes large orders received for several subway complexes which will be deliverable over several years as the projects are released. While quotation activity is brisk, there is no assurance when orders will be received and whether the order position will increase. Due to the fact that the Company's products are sold and installed as part of larger mass transit construction projects, there is typically a delay between the booking of the contract and its revenue realization.

======

More people are taking mass transit systems vs. driving to work due to the cost prohibitive nature of driving to work. I am speculating, but I betcha they are getting more request for proposals (RFPs) for their services and upgrades to existing mass transit systems. Plus, I mapquested the mailing addresses of Firecom and Synergx. They are 20 minutes apart! "
