Of all the things I see Dubyette being, martyr isn't one of them. I don't think Dubyette can stand any kind of discomfort physical or mental.

After all, he didn't plan foosball in college, he was a CHEERLEADER on the sidelines not getting hit. He wasn't learning combat during Vietnam, he was getting motion sickness and anxiety in a plane...and a training plane at that.

He didn't really push himself in business or strive to find his own place in the world, he waited until his dad found him the single cushiest job in biz: learning all of the names of all of the employees at the stadium. Gee Whiz.

I see Dubyette as being unable to deal with any kind of discomfort which is why he's hermetically sealed. Frankly, I wonder if Rove (who is looking more like a mayonnaise jar everyday) simply doctors the polls before anyone presents them to Dubyette.

Rove can't think it's a good idea for Dubyette to engage in real life. Heck, George the delicate rose has managed to avoid it so far.
