To: MulhollandDrive who wrote (47997 ) 5/9/2006 12:51:38 PM From: Rainy_Day_Woman Respond to of 90947 no, Dad is incredibly independent - he must be on his own the experience was horrendous - that he has done as well as he has is amazing - it is foolish for me to think there would not be some residual effect he lost a lot - not his personal possessions, he lost his way of life - everything in his world turned upside down - he is still in the process of making a new life, in a new place, trying to pick up what pieces he can find of his old threads the n'mares are lessening and less frequently he is working through it in his own way - I am here to help as I can to be honest, I am sick of politics and politicians - I have no faith or trust in either any longer any welfare state has been a failure as far as I can see - it only ended up breeding generations of dependent peoples it is obvious the program was totally structured wrong - rather than admit it is a failure, they continue to try and "fix" bits and pieces of it - there is no honesty, on either side, when debating it America wants to fix every problem, take care of every person 100%, no matter if certain individuals want it enough to put the effort in themselves or not - it's a fine lofty goal, but in practicality it's not realistic if we are honest, people will always fall through the cracks, for whatever reason - be it health, school, job I for one do not believe we can "carry" everyone on our backs many people, not all, chose their way of life through decisions - they can change their decisions, their path, their direction the political scene as forgotten a great word accountability another one is adaptability it's what made this country great in my view pioneers, immigrants, scrappers, doing what it takes to make life work
