have a problem wearing a turban. i generally distrust moves that are made on geopolitical grounds ( it's knee-jerk buying unrelated to any solid economic reasoning ) , but new highs are new highs...

this is the type of 'safe big cap stock' that Wall Street is totally in love with and urges everybody to buy ( while shunning the stuff that's actually going up ) .
after going nowhere for a few years, the stock is now getting clobbered back to the low end of its several-year old trading range. anyone looking at the open options in MSFT ( and other big cap techs for that matter ) should have realized that this stock was in trouble.
note: post earnings, they like to intensify their stock buyback program to artificially support the stock, so it's normally not a good idea to chase these large down moves.
anyway, this action in MSFT once again proves the old adage that you don't need WS analysts in a bull market and don't want them in a bear market - unless you want to transform a big fortune into a small one.
