There was that 'tax amnesty' program where MegaCorps could repatriate their profits at some ridiculously low rate...something like 5% or maybe it was 4%. Another Dubyette corruption special.

Last year, I think. But time flies. My assumption was they had to get some of the profits back to pump up executive compensation.

The Republicans love blaming everything on the immigrants and focusing on having Halliburton build an 1800 mile fence.

I don't think you're paying enough attention to the detail. A few years ago, the GOP started giving Spanish lessons in the House and Senate. The GOP sees a long term plan of getting the Hispanic vote locked in. It's a group that is less educated and easily manipulated. And since they're are less educated and mostly Catholic, they make lots of babies, which the GOP hopes will be GOP babies.

The dilemna they have is they don't vote yet. And their white base, the ones that do vote, are feeling threatened by the Hispanics. So the GOP is trying to figure out how to juggle. How do we keep our jobs with the white base and not lose the future brown base which is going to become the majority?
