Top Bushie war planner Wolfowitz stated that Iraqi oil would pay for the war. That statement was echoed on rightwing talk radio. I specifically remember Sean Hannity spending a long time trying to convince a sceptical Republican caller than Iraqi oil would pay for everything and the war would be over in a matter of weeks.

Rice said the White House never could have foreseen a 9-11 despite the fact she and Bush were warned on 8-6-01.

Bush said we never could have foreseen the levees being breached in NO but now it's proved on video-tape he was warned of exactly that days before it happened.

Bush said in late 2003 that he no longer cared about Osama Bin Lauden. There has been no priority search for him since the cease fire at Tora Bora allowed him to escape.

Bush has many times promised to halve the deficits, but thgis year's deficit will be much worse than last year's, close to a trillion dollars. Yet Bush wants even more tax breaks for billionaires and big oil.

Not sure which statement you are referring to here, however economic conditions and national/international circumstances have changed since he was making campaign speeches.

Isn't that the best thing about making promises in politics. The world is not static. No matter what promises a politician makes in any area, they can always fall upon ... ~Things have changed.
