"One way to discourage some folks is to give the ETF's a black eye not too long after they start trading. The SEC is coincidentally cooperative in this by giving both GLD and SLV the go ahead while their respective markets were notably frothy."

I now understand why Oliver Stone has a large audience. Thanks much.

The big players usually end up with a way to be "long stock" in order to POUND the GLD when gold gaps down. All one has to do is put on a giant "conversion" (long stock, short synthetic stock) and always carry long GLD. That's how they get GLD to so closely track gold during the corrections.
