I think the thing missing in your discussion of peak the height of the peak. With the fubar governments of the world the peak will be later but it will be lower. With out the fubar governments of the world it would be peak sooner but higher.

The reality is that the world is cursed with fubar governments so the peak will be later but lower. Just MHO!

>> Oh come on Dennis. It would peak sooner with "unfettered access." <<

Production is peaking sooner because of geopolitical restraints.

>> You cannot create what is not there. <<

You cannot produce much of what we know is there. Production is currently falling behind demand growth because of political factors. Production will peak long before geophysical models
would indicate because politics restrains access and the needed investment.

No matter how much oil your theoretical physical models show remaining, political restraints will cause production to peak sooner. Relying soley on physical models and ignoring the political factors will lead you to the wrong investment decisions.
