I agree with smashing the neocon philosphy forever. They have proven to be corrupt and frankly their world theories are a recipe for world war. However, I would rather not spend the next 2 years with Congress spending time investigating crap. We have a hell of a lot of real legislation we need passed. I'll give you a partial list: * pass a resolution stating that we have until the end of 2007 to complete a full withdrawal of troops from Iraq. Passed that date, no more funds will be given to the war. * Increase fuel mileage standards from 27 to 50 and give the auto industry until 2015 to get there * Make it mandatory that all vehicles are fitted for flex-fuel by 2015 * Provide tax credits for all companies that retrofit their fueling stations with equipment to provide alternative fuels such as ethanol, E85, etc. * Provide funds to build a BIG ASS wall across our souther border * Pass a law massively increasing the number of work visas given to Mexican nationals with an expedited path towards citizenship for legals * Within the same law, make it a federal crime for a company to hire an undocumented worker and levy fines of $100,000 per illegal worker hired; the fines will be used to fund border security * As troops are repatriated from Iraq, put them on our souther border to patrol it * Pass a law requiring a national ID card that can double as a driver's license. All states must comply and a federal standard will be applied on the card. No head scarves or anything else that obscures the facial features will be allowed. * Pass a law that raises tariffs against the goods of any country that does business with Iran, until such a time as the nuclear crisis is behind us * Pass a law specifically targeting OPEC as a monopoly and putting the full legal force of the US behind it. For instance, stop funding any institution that does business with OPEC and pass a law that requires the US to sue any company that takes part in witholding of supplies or market manipulation either to keep prices high or to keep them within a trading range * Pass a balanced budget law that states the government is not allowed to spend more than 10% of the previous years tax revenues unless Congress can get a 75% majority to give a one year exemption. That's just for starters. We have a lot of work to do. We don't elect representatives to spend all their time bashing the other party. We elect them to pass laws to make things better.
