Let's keep on topic. The topic is oil. OPEC is the very definition of a monopoly. They are a collection of oil producing countries and companies that withold a commodity for the express purpose of keeping the price high. In the US, we have laws against monopolistic practices that harm the consumer. We should sue OPEC for compensatory damages.

The topic is punishing monopolies. MSFT is a monopoly and it gouges customers daily. OPEC is more than 10 countries. It may be a cartel, but it's not even CLOSE to a monopoly. Also, its the responsibility of each country to maximize the value of its natural resources. To do anything else would be poor governance.

You're just upset because you have to pay high prices. The prices aren't high because of OPEC. OPEC has been around when prices were $10 per barrel and today when they are $72.

You say OPEC is "withholding" oil. If its theirs to begin with, they have the right to do with it what they please, right? They are not OBLIGATED to sell it to you at below market prices, which seems to be what you are demanding. OPEC is no more "withholding" their oil than you are withholding your CSCO stock from the market. If all you long CSCO holders would stop "withholding" your CSCO stock, I could probably buy some at $16! Shall I sue you because you and your fellow CSCO longs keep "withholding" your CSCO stock?

As far as Microsoft, if you want to talk about that, they have been sued in countries all over the world, as they should have been.

I'm just pointing out how you prefer bashing Arabs even when you have a weak argument to bashing American stuff when there is a strong argument. Your anti-Arab bias is overwhelming in this type of thing.
