In your previous post on TIPs you raised questions to which I don't have answers. Will need to check into that. They are never what one would call big movers... more like a relatively protected place to park some liquidity... with the potential for an extra few points gain - if the timing is correct.

"regular" bonds are far more volatile - Let's say the inflation out there would be... 16%, like in the early 80's. How many cents on the dollar would a buyer pay for paper which is practically guaranteed to lose money? The price would be real low.
