When I moved to the Seattle area from the DC area (suburban Virginia) in 1989, the distance of my commute doubled, but the travel time was cut by 40%.

By the time I left in 2003, my commute was back to over an hour, and frequently a majority of that was just to get from my house down to the freeway for the trip into the City.

My commute now is 4 minutes.

Oh yes, parking is free also.

LOL! The water is pretty too! Speaking of crazy guys, though...Had lots of early morning errands to do today...was at the library a couple of minutes before it opened...lots of people standing in line...(I wondered if there was a sale or something..) One guy (glasses, professor-like appearance, but nerdy..) went in front of everyone to the doors themselves. When they opened, he ran in, ran up two flights of stairs....

The rest of us looked at each other as we filed in. Most of us were laughing a bit...I wondered exactly what would be so important in a library that one had to RUN in, and up 2 flights of stairs.... Did he think someone might get the book he wanted? There were plenty of computers, so it was't that.... The library workers were already at work...so he wasn't a worker....

Weird! I commented on the scene to another man ...he said, "He's ALWAYS like that"....

What would a novelist make of this? Dave Barry would probably have something humorous to say....<ggg>
