But what I see is another analogy to Bosnia and Kosovo...

Again.. I'm not necessarily opposed to intervention in Darfur, but if we're going to do it, we should be prepared for it to be more than a temporary "relief" effort.

Of course, we still need to get UN approval for military intervention (that is, if they're going to apply the same standards for enforcing binding resolutions as they tried to apply to intervening in Iraq).

And if they think the war in Iraq is expensive, they should remember that war in Sudan might prove to be even more so, given that the level of economic development there will require substantial inflows of money just to feed the people and commence the creation of some form of economic progress.

But, as you state, the are Al Qai'da elements operating in Sudan, including leaders associated with Bin Laden's buddy, Al Turabi:
