Don, on this thread we preface non-trade posts with off-topic [OT] notation.

The reasons I made a small $5,000 investment in GS today were (1) its Iogen investment was another vivid reminder to me that GS can do things as an investor that I cannot do, so the best way to do them is to invest in GS (similar to Berkshire Hathaway's investment in Level 3 Communication debt 3 years ago.); (2) An 11.6 PE is not excessive for a best in breed investment bank and trading machine that is a big benificiary of outsourcing and globalization trends.

Sold DIS because I read over the weekend that Jobs does not intend to be active at Disney in spite of becoming its largest shareholder.

Bot NY Times because it is a unique media property with low PE (11) that is just beginning to learn how to monetize its assets in the internet era which has been thoroughly disruptive to the business models of nearly all media enterprises and certainly all newspapers. I've been extremely pleased with my NY Times Select subscription. Though it is the first time I have been asked to pay for NYT content online, I feel that the article archive functionality is well worth the money. I expect to see gradual improvement in operating results.

Sold IMAX mainly because of Barrons article discussing certain accounting methods that were not particularly conservative and the fact that the company has previously engaged in an unsuccessful attempt to auction itself off, which preceeded in a nosedive in its shares.
