Mindmeld, I have a feeling that Kerry could win too.

Against whom? Kerry couldn't beat Bush in 2004. Is he hoping for an opponent even more incompetent than Bush in 2008?

Maybe he should start praying for a Tom Delay ...

Shocking how Bush chose to ignore 750 laws in the name of "national security" even though many of them are critically important laws in our democracy have nothing to do with national security.

This is a huge scoop by the Boston Globe. For five years Bush has been grossly abusing his power in secret ways. So if he cares that little for our laws it makes it even more likely that his people conspired with Diebold to steal the last election. Florida 2000 too of course.

America, we have a problem. Bush-Cheney must go.

Opec produces surplus oil: UAE
By Stanley Carvalho, Staff Reporter

Abu Dhabi: Opec is over-producing by at least 2 million barrels per day, ensuring ample oil supplies in the market, and high prices are due to a combination of factors, the UAE minister of energy said yesterday.

Mohammad Bin Dha'en Al Hamili also called for effective cooperation and communication between producing and consuming countries to achieve stability in the oil market.

"There is at least 2 million bpd of surplus oil in the market and Opec is offering more oil but nobody is taking it," Al Hamili told reporters on the sidelines of an energy conference.

"Volatility in world oil markets in recent years is not caused by shortages in crude oil supplies but is due to other causes such as anxiety brought about by actual or perceived geo-political instabilities in producing countries, bottlenecks in world refining sector and speculation in futures oil markets."

In his address to the 14th annual Middle East Petro-leum and Gas Conference, he urged producers and consumers to reconcile their interests and work together to overcome the challenges facing the petroleum industry.

"This includes the call for huge investment outlays in oil upstream and downstream sectors to raise production capacities and overcome bottlenecks in world refining capacity.

"Cooperation between producing and consuming countries is essential and cooperation between national and international oil companies is also an important factor in achieving energy security and oil market stability in future."

Al Hamli noted that the Middle East currently produces 30 per cent of the total world oil production but it is not commensurate with the size of the proven oil reserves in this region.
