To make things weirder. When I was in graduate school at the U of Washington deep in the last century conservative economists supported a strong dollar.

1.e. one gets foreign goods cheaper.

Clinton supported a strong, but Baker, during Reagan's presidency engineered a long depreciation of the dollar; and now bush looks like they are going with a weak dollar.

Corporations benifit as they can export, but individuals pay more. Just ask Gib how expensive foreign goods are in New Zealand. And they export all of their best products. Fish is cheaper in Alaska than New Zealand.

Philosophies change.

The one thing I could never understand is every country wants a weaker dollar these days. How far does that go-lol? To 0-lol?

"You are dead on when you say mining stocks and politics are inseperable."

I can't win this argument so I'm giving it up. Others post borderline stuff but the trolls jump on me if I say anything and then they run to Dave. I have to respect Dave (SI) because he runs the show and I think I know a bit of his mind on things so I'm not interested in carrying this torch if others don't agree and try to get me in shit for it. I am an entrepreneur and so I understand what its like to run a business and I'm not sure if SI Dave owns the site, I think he does, but I have nothing but praise for this type of guy. So its a fine line he walks trying to accommodate free speech and yet try to keep the investment boards focused. That said, I wish he would read Sinclair more often as he is the head honcho of the gold world and he manages to mix the two nicely. Dave has accomplished his idea of separating these topics with moderate success but I'm not sure that it enriches the threads by limiting the field of vision. I would rather see open discussion with moderated boards with strict rules like no swearing, personal attacks and vitriol like is often seen on the political boards. I think most here are adults and can differentiate.

You guys would have to take this up with Dave and appeal to him to set the law about personal attacks etc and see if he would go for it but from my correspondance so far he seems to want to try to keep it apart. Anyway good luck. I ran up over 100 ignores on the political threads over the last number of years but there are many others over there with over double that amount. What good has it all done for me?
