The Republicans are the enemies of clean fuels and conservation. The Dems may not be perfect, but they're not the ones who've presided over this terrible gouging and all the encouragement to promote gas guzzlers. The real reason for any gas shortages are these huge SUV's. Millions of them in this country. Kerry-McCain's CAFE standards bill (in 2001?) was lobbied against and defeated by the Bush-Cheney administration and their pro Big Oil allies in congress. That alone cost us more oil than is in all of ANWR. The current GOP is so deeply in bed with Big Oil they cannot be trusted to change anything. In fact, Bush has said a lot of good things, but when he comes to action, he does nothing. Kerry on the other hand has a long record of supporting massive clean fuels projects. But wake up, Amnerica, the only way for this to work is the carrot and stick approach. Which means gas guzzlers pay a tax and clean fuels users get a rebate. So all those NASCAR and Hummer types out there had better get used to the idea that the good old days of guzzling are over.
