As I replied to Bill, things are different now, since
this expansion is within the secular bear market, not
the secular bull market, I think.

The only reason the stock market is up is the Fed, and its
manipulation.

The market is tanking again big time in real terms.
We should witness a spectacular dollar crash soon.
We should "thank" the Fed for bubble-perpetuation
via the dollar debasement. Things are going to
be much worse than they would be without that institution.

The dollar is tanking, the bond market is following, although
it froze lately like a deer in headlights. The crisis is here,
but that's JMHO. The Fed is out of the equation now. Its
credibility is rapidly falling to zero. Sure, it continues
to pump stock futures every morning, but the worthiness
of its notes is depreciating very quickly.

The only thing it could possibly do to stave off the
dollar crisis, and fix the trade deficit was to raise rates
sharply higher, causing the reversal of consumption boom
and the bubbles. But no, it's too late now. It is not
willing to do that, it is even willing to pump US stock
market by purchasing SP e-minis with freshly minted cash.
That's just MHO. The punishment for that is worthless dollar.
