Both Vietnam and Iraq were needless wars based on lies, and fought mainly for profit and political egotism. Vietnam was actually no threat to the US whatsoever and the domino theory turned out to be bunk. Iraq and Saddam pretty much the same.

That's why we lost those wars, because once we were in them, we realized the original purpose was BS and it wasn't worth it at all. But arrogant presidents Bush and Nixon kept the wars going and going anyway, partly to fuel the profits of their defense contractor buddies, and also to avoid "losing".

But when stuck in a hole, don't keep digging. The real losers keeps digging, which both Nixon and Bush have done.

Bush has got to stop hiding behind the troops. The troops don't even support him anymore. They want to come home.

"Delicate with the enemy"? We killed about 500,000 in Vietnam, mostly innocent brown-skinned people, dropping more ordnance on that little country than all countries did during the entire WWII. Maybe that's why we're a little bit "delicate" now. The collateral damage in Vietnam was horrific, and our own guys got chewed to pieces as well.

The reason question is why hasn't Bush knocked off Osama and Al Qaida yet? Aren't they the enemy? Saddam turned out to be a paper tiger and not the real enemy. And Bush's moves in the ME helped create more enemies, including Iran which had actually been helping us in Afghanistan, more or less.
