Bush tax cuts were 95% for the very rich. The rest of it is just like Frist's recent $100 rebate idea, a way to bribe middleclass voters into voting GOP, while they pick the middleclass's other pocket by doubling energy and health care costs, plus loading them down with collosal new debt for generations.

There was no reason for Bush's tax cuts for the rich except to make the rich richer and spare them from contributing to the country that allowed them to get so rich in the first place.

re: O RLY? We'll all end up paying more, and the rich will continue being rich. And for what?

To balance the budget, and begin paying down the debt. You realize that debt is debt, right? Nobody is going to forgive that debt... you and your kids are going to have to pay it back. The $trillion that Iraq is going to eventually cost? I think somebody said it's $20K per person in this country, plus interest. Guess what idiot, that's YOUR money... you owe it.

re: The people hurt the most are those who aren't yet rich, but have a shot at getting there with a regular salary. If you want the rich to continue being rich while the poor continue being poor, go ahead and hike up income tax rates. Remember, it's the income that makes people rich. Tax it, and the only way to become rich is by "striking gold."

Funny how a lot of people got rich before the Bush tax cuts, wonder how that happened. Oh right, the lottery.
