Hmm.. interesting.

Well, I asked this the last time gas prices were high
and I'll ask everyone who reads this thread again....

Are these higher gas prices causing people to drive less?

I haven't been out and about too much lately,
but one thing I've very much noticed,
is that the amount of traffic on the highway
near my farm is really down in the evenings.
Also noticed it last weekend.
I can't really help noticing it as I often make sound
recordings of birds and frogs, and under normal circumstances,
it's quite hard to make a minute long sound clip without
some kind of vehicle noise starting to break in on it.
This week, I've really noticed small silences (which is very nice, imo).

But that's up here in the Frozen North
where people are paying more for gas anyhow,
and where I think -- possibly -- people have more of a feeling
that the problem is actually fairly serious and not temporary...
at least, among those I talk to
(but bear in mind that I'm something of a hermit).
