in Calif the sales tax is about 7.5 cents per dollar. When gasoline was two dollars the state got .15 cents per gallon, now that it is over three dollars they are getting about .23 cents per gallon. Their increase alone is more than the oil company make in profit per gallon. Why doesn't the gov lower their taxes a little?

I forgot, no liberal ever lowers a tax, they only know how to raise.

JF, The oil companies are the second most tax subsidized industry in the country. Drop the subsidies, tax the devices that use excess energy, and subsidize the energy efficient devices.

We'll also need to find a source of energy more potent and economical than oil. After hybrids, squeezing more efficiency out of oil is like squeezing blood out of a rock.
