America's SUV's consume ten times as much oil as China and India. Big oil has been using the China and India excuse ad nauseum, but the biggest problem is right here. Plus China and India were growing just as fast in the 90's when we had low gas prices. Another big problem is the Iraq War and the threats against Iran. That accounts for about a 20% spike. This problem was made a lot worse when Bushies fought to defeat the Kerry-McCain CAFE standards bill in 2001. That was a real crime against our energy future. Very corrupt. Bushies were actually fighting to increase gasoline consumption. They even gave out tax breaks for Hummers.
