American imports about ten times as much oil as China and India combined. And our use of gas guzzling SUV's has jacked up our demand greatly in the past 5-6 years.

When I say "ten times" it's a huge generalization, but the point is we need to quit blaming China and look at ourselves. We're the main culprits and always have been. China is a smalltime consumer compared to the US. Plus, much of the new manufacturing in China exists because we sent it there.
