It was only a few centimetres high, so no worries. Also, I have taken the precaution of living 70m high and behind some big islands in the Hauraki Gulf and behind the Coromandel Peninsular and Waitakere mountains [about 300 metres high] and with lower lying areas around me, so it's going to take a BIG wave to get me. Unless I go to the beach. One day though, there is going to be a biggie and people around the world will stop worrying about Greenhouse Effect sea level rise and understand that living at the interface of two fluids [air and water] is a wobbly place to be. Humans are like fueldoctors.com - we are like cladosporium resinae, needing water and air to live; they need fuel and water - so we both live at fluid interfaces. Tsunami sea level rise is a LOT faster than Greenhouse sea level rise, and involves kinetic energy too, so tsunamis are a LOT more fun than global warming. And, they come often. Every few hundred years [would have to check Google for distribution of bolides by size, and their relative wave effects]. But not so often that people have learned that living at sea level is a hazardous idea. It will be like the Twin Towers destruction. Afterwards, Condoleezza will say that nobody could have predicted that a tsunami would wreck coastal regions. I sat behind a cockpit in the USA and the door was open and I thought, "This is crazy. I could just stand up, walk in and take over. But I won't tell the cabin crew that this is dangerous as they will, being arrogant morons, think that I'm making a threat and hassle me if not attack me. And anyway, they won't do anything about it to get higher management doing things right, so I'd waste my breath." That was years before 911. It was entirely predictable and it seems that Al Q is more intelligent than Condi as they could figure it out but she couldn't. Maybe if I'd mentioned it to the air-crew, they'd have got right on the case and changed airline security and the Twin Tower attack would have never happened. They were too busy worrying about people using cellphones causing the aircraft to crash. "Box-cutter? Fine!!" "Cockpit door open? No worries." "Cellphone??!! Argghhh, quick, arrest that man. Zap him with the electric gun. Tie him up. Prosecute." That's airline and government intelligence in action. People will act surprised when the BIG tsunami hits. They'll pass laws about living near sea level. There will be a government department created. Taxes taken. Punishments given for breaking the law, which doesn't exist now, when there is an actual vast risk. The United Nations will get in on the act. People will forget Darfur and Iraq, and Katrina will not be mentioned. As usual, they'll shut the cockpit door after the horse has bolted through it. They'll stop me going to the beach, which I like to do at times, taking my chances with the great white sharks and tsunamis. Absurdly, they protect the right of the great white shark to eat me. But I'm not allowed to eat them. Great white sharks, aka white pointer, aka "Jaws" is NOT a threatened species. And if it was, good riddance. They roam all over the oceans and people could never get them all. Mqurice
