Anyone supporting a so-called profits tax isn't fairly conservative, IMHO. That could only add to pump prices! This is pretty black and white, actually.

Yeah...we don't want to infringe on any CEO's $400 million dollar retirement package, not counting salary, bonuses and stock options. How can a CEO survive these days?

So what if poor working families have to choose between shoes for the kids or gas for the car?

Wrong. Windfall profits taxes do not add to the pump price. They simply move the gouged money from greedy private pockets into the public pocket where they can be used for many important things, like rewarding energy conservation or starting the long hard road of paying off Bush's huge-huge deficits.
