AS, solar and wind energy is still too expensive to compete with oil and nuclear. The problem isn't land, but the cost of building enough solar panels and maintaining them. Try owning your own home and installing solar panels if you still think it's cost-effective.

As for nuclear, I totally agree with you, but we'll have to convince a skeptical public that we won't repeat the mistakes of Three Mile Island and Chernobyl. Here, we might want to follow the lead of France, although I suspect some anti-nuke protesters are hoping France turns into a radioactive wasteland.
