Just to get to and in an airport these days, which takes at least 2 hours before it leaves, plus the time to get out of the terminal when you arrive, and of course the actual flight time... The process takes longer than a train would for short 3 hour hops between destinations.

That is precisely why I used to drive when I lived in the Seattle area and had to go to Portland.

Does not make sense to fly.
