For what it's worth, I think the low approval are a combination of things, including Iraq (yeah, we've been there 3 years now, but things are not getting any better and we've thrown away alot of dollars and lives to be at this point), the Katrina fiasco, stagflation (though Mish will LOL at me for that one, I say it's real), and yes, gas prices. But gas is not that much higher than last summer, yet the approval is a bit lower. The prospect of widening conflict and yet another obvious front in the "War on Terrorism" (and I hate that title....WTF is next, a "war on landmines"?) probably hurts him at the margins, yet the hardcore Bushian faithful (AKA "Dumbf*ckistanians") love him even more when gets medieval on one third world country or another, no matter how stupid and wrongheaded it is. So there he is, 30 something percent and falling.... |
