"Pakistan was told after 1998 that it was a failed or failing state because it didn’t have money to buy its imports for more than a few weeks."

- and the KSE was under 1000 most of that year...
--------------------------------------------------------

"When we were 34th last year..."

- and the KSE was in the 8000+ range...
-------------------------------------------------------

"...and (this year) has placed Pakistan ninth in the top 10 failed states..."

- and the KSE is in the upper 11,000's...
-------------------------------------------------------

Gee Ike, I sure wish my portfolio was 'failing' as bad, ggg.....

Iqbal..

Was curious on the odds of the MMA making a strong showing in the next election in Pakistan?

It seems that Al Qai'da and their supporters are attempting to make a move on Afghanistan again and I wonder how much increasing support they will see should the MMA make a stronger showing.

I'm heartened to see Pakistan do well economically. It would certainly be a shame to see the Islamo-Fascists be able to increase their power should the economy turn downward.

Just kind of curious to get a current "pulse" of the situation there.
