Not sure how Peru will play out yet, the more radical candidate has backed off his message. I had thought there quite a few Canadian and Australian as well as some Latin American companies in Peru as well. I am more familiar with the energy markets than mining.

Certainly true historically. Mexico in the 30s, Cuba in the 60s, Chile in the 70s. (Reversed as you probably know by a US sponsored overthrow..) and I would agree that the response in Venezuela is related to the actions of the US government.

Bolivia I think is a little different story Moreles is pushing the race (indigenous people) angle, hence it's ok to Nationalize the assets of neighboring and European states as long as the assets are believed to be held primarily by European descended people.
