Agreed. We need a significant drop in demand for oil. This will reduce the price of oil and gasoline, help with Global Warming, and as the Secretary of State just realized, positively impact international politics.

If it was just a price problem, I'd let the markets handle it ... but the externalities are huge (environmental and geopolitical), so a government visible foot (kick-in-the-arse) is needed.
