Forget THAT bud! Iran provides about 5% of the world's strained supply. Not to mention that Iran may attempt to retailiate by attacking other nearby oil producer's ports or facilities. If we invade Iran, look for oil to go north of $200/bbl.

It's a matter of what you can get people to believe. Surely if Bush said we could lower gas by $.25/gal by invading Iraq, longnshort would be on SI in a NY minute repeating it.

Something that has surprised me is the lack of commentary on the goodness of being oil independent, sic no foreign sources. It doesn't matter that much. Even if the US had no foreign sources, we would still be dependent on foreign sources for pricing. Exxon Mobil is selling at market prices, they aren't going to sell oil/gas at a discount in the US when they can sell oil to China. We're going to pay global prices regardless of where it comes from. The real target should be using less petroleum products year over year not where it comes from.
