Dr. Loosen does wines at all levels. I love your description of the wine and will look for it. I have recently had the Eroica, a riesling Loosen makes in Oregon with Chateau St. Michelle. While very appealing, there is something about the flavor of a german or alsatian riesling that I prefer. I think you have identified it as slate.
