Agree...but there are MANY closed or semiclosed communities, and every little bit would help. Actually I think the saving would be large, because there are so many such communities in the US. And I agree also that for NOW, the hybrids seem to make some sense for the short term.

What I don't understand is why the automakers haven't increased the number of miles per gallon a LONG time ago....

Is it too hard?

Didn't they think it was necessary?

Are they in 'cahoots' with the countries that have the "oooiiilll?" ( There are probably some that think this, but I'm not one of them...)

But seriously, why haven't they already done it?

I'd consider one of these, if the dealer network was built up and if the prices were a bit more reasonable.
