For airlines apparently in asia at least, standing room is on the way. Read that somewhere last week. Someone also said this morning that freight is where fuel is really wasted. We have trucking to rail numbers way out of proportion to europe for instance. And if planes and cars are getting too rich, what about trains as a mode of travel? Would have to be subsidized in some fashion. Maybe JDN is right--i am going gorey.

They cannot avoid raising prices. Prices for airfare are already high enough..

well i happen to be of the 'high prices cure high prices' school...and i think eventually higher prices will force a demand 'correction'...we saw that right after katrina... however, now it seems that the $3/gal. price has not had the same type of demand destruction that it did just 6 months ago, considering consumption was up last month

As our cars become smaller, we will still have to face gigantic cars/trucks/SUV's on the freeways....PLUS all the moving and transport large trucks...

Will car accidents and more people be killed, because of the large car/truck versus the smaller car syndrome??
