Most of the larger SUV's get mileage in the teens, however Chysler and I believe Ford now have big V-8'S (5.7 litre Hemi in Chryslers case) that SHUT DOWN 4 of the 8 cylinders when cruising on the highway with no tow load at speeds up to 60mph. Thus they CAN get mileage up to the mid 20's under ideal conditions. Thats the engine I want to get if I get a Jeep Commander. Otherwise I will await the new Deisel engine coming out which will be available sometime in 2007 when the new deisel fuel is available. jdn
