Not surw what invariant means, but if it means the scaling must be set to a specific x/y ratio, I question that.

If the x/y ratio is not controlled, this would only mean the spiral does not 'look right' i.e. skewed to the left/fight or up/down directions.

The fib spirol is not relatesd to the xy scaling, only the ration of the sides.
