That cost us 30 billion and Bush-Cheney all but supported it. What does that have to do with illegal immigration? There is not one source for all the problems of the world......and certainly Dems have done some stupid things. Nothing compared to Bush but then I would hope Bush is rock bottom.Illegal aliens have been here for decades and the economy has been very strong. How strong was S. CA in the early 90s when 1.5 million people lost their jobs? How good is the job growth in S CA now? I can tell you.........not that great: "But California added only 250,000 jobs last year — about in line with the 1.7 percent job growth rate seen in the nation as a whole. Even more interesting: From 1999 to 2004, California’s work force only grew by 2.9 percent while home prices rose 103 percent. Compare that to the boom years of 1995-2000, when the work force expanded by 17 percent yet home prices rose only 47 percent."msnbc.msn.com When I lived in CA in the late 1980s, job growth was 4-6% per year. Then in the mid 1990s it slowed down to $3-4%. Now its only growing as fast the national average. I have to know demographics for my business and I can tell you that these small changes in growth rates may seem minor to you, but in fact, they mean the difference in tens of thousands of jobs. In fact, job growth less than 3% is not strong, its average. And its part of the reason why CA doesn't have the surpluses it once had. Average job growth doesn't generate lots of tax revenue. And that's only part of the picture......CA has not been adding high income jobs as fast as it once did. Your economy is not nearly as strong as you think. Also, every Californian with any money uses illegal aliens to do all their hard dirty work. And I have never seen any evidence of illegals living off hand-outs from the government. They all seem to work very hard. Have you ever gone home with your gardeners? Do you know if they have children? Were you with them when their wives gave birth in the local hospital? Think about, AS.......they make $10 per hour or less and they have no health insurance. What's that you say? They had the kid at home? Nope. They went to the hospital. They know the hospital won't chase them down for the money.....not having an SS card or any employment verification helps. So......where are they going to come up with the 50K to have a child? No where right? So who paid for the wife's stay at the hospital? Think about it. And then think about your last car accident with an illegal. I had several. They never have insurance. So who pays for the accident? Did you even wonder why car insurance premiums are so high in CA? And then at $10 per hour, providing your 4 kids with school lunch becomes problematical financially. Not to worry.......the US doesn't like kids going hungry so we provide free lunch to all the kids who can't afford it..that would include the children of citizens and illegals alike. So you want to know who pays for that? Your know your federal income taxes............I'm not defending illegal aliens, just giving you my perspective as someone in Southern California for 25 years. Thanks for your perspective but it does sound like you are defending them esp. if it puts the GOP in a bad light. Must have been my misunderstanding.
