I believe Lay trusted the wrong people. I don't think he is a saint. But I think he got conned or fooled or may have fooled himself into trusting the wrong people. I believe there were cues that should have had him asking more questions and he still trusted and did not ask the questions. Pride goes before the fall. But pride is not criminal, but makes for screwups big time.

That equals he "screwed up big time in judgement?" But I don't see it as a certain criminal conduct.

I believe the criminal starts somewhere below Lay. Maybe just below. Lay could also be guilty of criminal acts, but the stock reporting as some proof is a farce and all I've seen shows a stupidity scenario is likely.
