Not exactly. What I'm saying is that all politics is local, and the NIMBY syndrome is a factor everywhere.

(Same as with taxes, where the old saying is "don't tax you, don't tax me --- tax that fellow behind the tree!")

With oil, I am convinced that *eventually*, when the price is high enough, ALL commercially recoverable oil on public lands will be developed... it is only a matter of time and price. Meanwhile, oil under public lands is 'safe in the bank', and will only become even *more* valuable in the future.

Depends on WHAT 'people', WHERE, and WHEN. :)

Everyone is entitled to their opinions and, if petro development stands to harm your business interests, I would expect people to oppose it --- same as they would anything else that was expected to cost them money....
